About the frames...
All frames are hand cut, joined and glazed right here in the studio, on industry leading machinery (a Morso mitre guillotine from Denmark and Cassese cs90 underpinner from France). This results in the highest quality and most reliable of cuts and joins. All mounts are cut on a Keencut Futura mount cutter.
I hold a small stock of the most popular frame moulds here, but have access to next day delivery on a huge range of frame moulds.
There is a variety of glazes available depending on your requirements and budget. Artglass is less reflective, UV protecting and offers a truer colour rendering than a standard glass. There is also a standard glass option which has been perfectly acceptable for the past few hundred years, so you can still expect a fantastic look and finish to your piece while keeping the costs down.
About the framer...
I have lived in Girton my whole life and spent much of it in and around the art world. An early interest sparked by an artistic mother who's own paintings, and enthusiasm for that of others, encouraged me to use art as the guiding force to my own academic studies. I gained several qualifications through various schools and colleges, all the way up to degree level when I graduated in Scientific and Natural History Illustration in 2009. I have also received training in picture framing and sign writing.
My hobbies are all things music and sports, from boxing training to banjo playing.
I now spend my days working for the Royal Mail and my evenings making picture frames.
Setting up this picture framing studio is a new venture but in familiar territory. I have vast experience of picture framing from the customers point of view, having had many of my own works and purchases professionally framed. Now I am using this experience, as well as newly learned skills, to bring a quality picture framing service to Girton.
Some of my own work is displayed below...
